Ocimum sanctum - Holy Basil - Tulsi


Ocimum sanctum : Holy Basil - a herb from the pesto variety of Basil (Ocimum basilicum). Tulsi, which in Sanskrit means – the incomparable one , is worshipped throughout India. It is regarded as a consort of Lord Vishnu in the form of Mahalakshmi. Basil has been revered in India for over five thousand years, as a healing herb for body, mind and soul, and is known to bestow an amazing number of health benefits for mankind.

Tulsi plant has many medicinal properties. The leaves are a nerve tonic and also sharpen memory. They promote the removal of the catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial tube.
