In India it was introduced by the two French people in the Southern part of India in the early nineteenth century (1900 -1915). In India two main verities are grown - Algerian or Tunisian and the BOURBON (Reunion). Geranium Bourbon is the most important of the Geranium Oil and infect, one of the main essential oil used in perfumery. It has a smooth but powerful and persistent odor of rose-geranium, green-leafy and with a fruity, minty background. Traditionally Geranium is used for healing of wounds; ulcers and skin disorder and in the treatment of diarrhoea, dysentery and colic. In aromatherapy its oil is used for it antibacterial and insecticidal properties.
